It’s come to our attention that few of our competitors are sharing the most recent information on rebate/incentive programs so we’d like to use the opportunity to get you up to speed. Here are some answers to the most common questions regarding rebates.
ecoENERGY retrofit program (federal program)
Q. Can I still enter the ecoENERGY retrofit program?
A. No. After a deadline extension up to June 30, 2012, the federal government ended this program. You can read the archived news update here.
LiveSmart BC Efficiency Incentive Program (provincial program)
Q. Can I still enter the LiveSmart BC Efficiency incentive program?
A. No. The LiveSmart BC residential Efficiency Incentive Program (EIP) has formally come to an end, although processing and administration will still continue as needed. In addition, the Province is working with BC Hydro and Fortis BC to further energy efficiency incentives. In December 2013, BC Hydro’s 10 Year Plan was announced, and it includes $1.6 billion for Power Smart programming to help homeowners and businesses save energy and money.
New programming from utility partners are expected to be announced later this year. You can read this news update here.
Q. So who is administering rebate or incentive programs now?
A. BC Hydro and FortisBC have jointly developed utility-funded energy conservation programs to continue to help homeowners and small businesses make energy efficiency improvements. To help residential customers reduce their water and space heating costs, BC Hydro and FortisBC will be expanding the incentives available to residential customers, beyond those currently offered under the LiveSmart BC program.
